Studies
Analgesic efficacy and safety of non-prescription doses of naproxen sodium in the management of moderate osteoarthritis of the knee or hip
This study showed that for the acute management of underlying pain in patients with moderate osteoarthritis of the hip or knee, non-prescription naproxen sodium is effective and well tolerated in patients of all ages.
Comparison of the analgesic efficacy and safety of non-prescription doses of naproxen sodium and ibuprofen in the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee
This study showed that over-the-counter doses of naproxen sodium (440/660 mg) and ibuprofen (1200 mg) effectively relieve pain in patients with mild to moderate OA of the knee. Study was conducted over a 7 day period.
Analgesic efficacy and safety of non-prescription doses of naproxen sodium compared with acetaminophen in the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee
This study showed non-prescription doses of naproxen sodium (440/660 mg) and acetaminophen (4000 mg) effectively relieve pain and other symptoms of osteoarthritis. Naproxen sodium is an alternative in the initial treatment of osteoarthritis and may be preferred to acetaminophen as first-line therapy in patients with moderate or severe pain. Naproxen sodium and acetaminophen had similar safety profiles to placebo.
